Hello Again

Long time no see for my little blog here. I couldn't believe the date! What was supposed to be a holiday break some time back turned into a year long family break, but I'm back on Etsy now on a regular basis and really enjoying getting my shop rolling and working on new goodies.

It was fun to look back through my old items and compare them to things I'm making now. I'm still looking to revamp my shops face, I would like to try some different backgrounds but just haven't settled on anything I feel comfortable with. I was also on hiatus so long that my camera and I are getting to know each other again. LOL.

This was my favorite new item I worked on and listed this week. It turned out different from what I what I had envisioned when I sat down to work on it. I've learned though that it can often be the case especially working with wire. I was still very pleased with it and just love these colors, definately summer time worthy. :)

Its been a long week

Everyone in my house is still recouping from the ugly bug that has been going around. That time of year I guess. Thank goodness everybody is on the mend and back to feeling like themselves.

I can't believe its already mid-december. My kids actually start winter break at the end of the week! This year has really went by super fast! Time flies when your having fun and I sure have been with my creating atleast.

I did have some fun adding a little holiday cheer to my orders this week. I haven't quite gotten myself into that Christmas mode yet in spite of having the tree and lights up. I'm sure its just from not feeling well, I'm normally already pretty amped for Christmas by this point.

The weather has been very chilly as of late but I was able to snap some pics when the sun peaked out. I added two new pairs of earrings to my shop. My favorites are pictured above. As much as I love to make cluster earrings, I also really enjoy working with interesting beadcaps sometimes too and these were alot of fun. I really think beadcaps can affect the overall look in a big way. This is also just an awesome color. Seafoam!! I mean that is just a fun word, try saying it! LOL! :D

I Whip My Dog!

And he loves it! LOL. Okay Okay, so I took this pic on Thanksgiving. I don't normally feed him cool whip. It was Thanksgiving though so I thought he deserved a little indulgence, besides I only let him lick the empty bowl, not eat it.

It was quite gray outside today so no new jewelry photographs. We got the tiniest little snowflakes but not much else yet. I do love watching the snow fall, so hopefully we will see a little more this weekend.

Gonna have to get out the light tent and go back to work trying to figure out the best set up on my camera functions and lighting. I got really close last time though, so should have it ready to go soon. It's going to be alot of work re-photographing all of my items, but I think I will have a hard time if I leave the backgrounds mixed. We will see.

Enjoy your weekend everyone! :D

Where O Where...

...has my little blog gone? Oh Where O Where can she be?!!

Okay, so time to brush the dust off this puppy and get serious. I want to make an effort to get this blog going. I do love to talk, so why not? I hit 100 sales this month and it has really gotten me motivated to clean up some lose strings for my etsy shop and to start putting more effort into offsite promotion. That is my goal for the New Year anyhow.

I've made some efforts already by taking some steps to improve my photos. Not quite there yet, so I'm still using the same photography method at the moment. I have a new found respect for folks that use light tents and have awesome photos. They make it sound like you just toss your stuff in tent and BOOM great photo. So NOT the case. Ha!

I have been having alot of fun creating this week though, I included my favorite item above. It is a coiled wire-wrapped ring and though its not my first in that style, it is my favorite so far just because of the awesome blue shade of the focal piece! It reminds me of the ocean, just so soothing...Calgon...Take me Away! LOL.

Shelley...OUT. :D

I suck at blogging.

Yes it has been way too long since I blogged. I didn't even look at the date because I don't want to know. LOL.

I played around with some wire today and this was what I ended up with. These wonderful moonstone rondelles were given to me by a great friend, so they needed something special and fun. I love his chubby self, but not sure if he's going in the shop yet. We will see, I'm awfully picky with myself sometimes when something is a brand new style for me. Ever since I made my first ring with the extra wrapping around the shank I want to learn more of those type techniques, but I have to take baby steps as I cannot afford tutorials as of right now. So instead I played off of what I learned with the rings. Fun!

This is exactly why I will never really have a cohesive look to my shop though. I've heard this is important for real success, but I just can't stick to one particular style. I have too much fun experimenting. New techniques, new materials, the whole bit! But I decided that is alright, I'm only trying to support my jewelry habit, nothing more. :)

Boho Beachy

Wow it's been awhile since I blogged. There is just never enough time in the day to keep up with everything! Sometimes I feel like the mothership trying to keep up with my shop as well as other promotion websites and blogs. I made a fabulous pair of earrings yesterday though, so I had to share them. I was so happy with them when they were finished. I really enjoy playing around with the oxidized silver and love how it turned out against the sparkly crystals. I love contrast. I think they are a good item because they got almost 30 views on the first day and that doesn't really happen for me, usually its more like 7. Ha! Okay enough horn tooting. :)

I was Tagged

Okay so I was tagged by the wonderful Marshatoh. I guess I am supposed to tell 7 things about myself and then "tag" 3 others. So here goes...

1. That is my brand new mug up there, I thought it was hilarious and it was only a $1.50, so what can I say? I'm a little addicted to coffee, and when I say a little I mean that I look and sound like a cavewoman until I have atleast 2 cups every morning.

2. When I was younger I used to tell my Mom that when I was big and lived in my own house I would have 10 cats and eat only sweet tarts, granny smith apples, and tuna right of the can. It's funny now of course. I have no cats, just a dog and apples haven't tasted the same since having kids. I do still like my sweet tarts and tuna though.

3. I am a big sports fan. I'm talking big as in I jump up and spill my beer and food on myself while screaming obscenities at the television. Much fun.

4. I have a celebrity crush on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. BUT, there is nothing sexier than a real world guy coming home from working hard all day for his family. Dirty, smelly....and yummy. Do you smell what SHELLEY is cooking??

5. I hate to admit it, but I am not a cook. Dave does most of the true dinner cooking in our house, I'm more of a let's heat up some chicken nuggets type. I can bake a mean apple pie though!

6. Sitting down for hours working on wire-wrapped links for a necklace during the day does 10 times more for me than those same hours spent with some high dollar therapist.

7. As much as I love oooohing and aaaaahing over jewelry. My favorite thing to look at on etsy is the whimsy stuff. I absolutely love crochet, polymer clay, or beads shaped like animals, food, and the like!

Okay there ya go! 7 right off the top of my head, now off to tag....

Reneesdesigns, Jemsbyjbandcompany, and Littlebrownbird! :D
